Audrey Marshall

Audrey Marshall Jefferson, Iowa Date of Death: February 18, 2022 Audrey Kay (Thomas) Marshall recently passed away Friday, February 18, 2022, succumbing to viral pneumonia and dementia, age 85. Born September 14, 1935, in Iowa City, Audrey had lived and worked in Jefferson since 1962. Known for working with her husband, Dr. Larry "Doc" Marshall at Greene County Medical Center, Audrey also directly impacted the Jefferson community. As an obstetrics nurse, Audrey assisted Dr. Marshall and other family physicians in the birth of multiple community members. With her love of obstetrics and teaching, Audrey also educated multiple nurses in the community, many who continue to live and work in the community today. In particular she taught the "fourth trimester," postnatal care focusing on the mother in addition to the new baby. Other contributions to community included her work with Kiwanis and Rotary, Friday Club, the local United Methodist Church, and she loved working with children including as a math tutor for the Jefferson middle school. Some accolades include the Iowa Governor's Volunteer Award in 1994, Jefferson Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year in 1983, and she shared the Friends of Education award with her husband in 1986. Audrey was preceded in death by her husband Larry in 2019, and daughter Linda in 2017. Surviving family members include her sons Lane Marshall with wife Tina and daughter Stephanie, of Deerfield Beach, Florida; son Loren Marshall of Denver, Colorado; and son Lee Marshall with wife Rhiannon and children Evan, Grant, and Ellen, of Lincoln, Nebraska.
