Viola Lipke, 98, of Jefferson passed away early Wednesday evening, October 17th, at the Greene County Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday October 22, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction, Iowa, with burial in Junction Township Cemetery, Grand Junction, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be prior to the funeral service on Monday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the church. Born on September 27th, 1909, in Greene County, Iowa, Viola was the daughter of Charles and Charlotte (Peachy) Herrick. She was the second of seven children and lived most of her life in the Grand Junction area. She graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1928 and married Elmer Lipke in 1929. The couple made their home on the family farm southeast of Grand Junction. They had a son Dale Eugene and a daughter Darlene. Over the years, Viola participated in HH Club, Pleasant Hour Club, Rebecca Lodge and various functions at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction. She enjoyed traveling, family gatherings and especially liked spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Viola had a special love for the family farm which has since been named a Century Farm. In later years she moved to the town of Grand Junction and most recently to Ever Greene Ridge in Jefferson. Viola was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, son Dale, two grandchildren and five siblings. Those left to honor her memory are: daughter Darlene (Dennis) Dixon of Adel; six grandchildren: Teresa (Rick) Humpal andTracy (Steve) Bosshart of Jefferson, Doris (Mike) McCarty of Gowrie, Mark (Sunny) Dixon of Vermillion, South Dakota, Thomas (Thu Ha) Dixon of Adel and Stephen Dixon of West Des Moines. Also left to honor her memory are a sister, Mildred Potter of Gilman, 14 great grandchildren: Amanda (A.J.) Tiffany, Megan and Garrick Humpal, Chris, Nicholas and Melissa Bosshart, Robert, Brandon and Tiffany Milham, Timothy, Amelia, Andrew, Zachary and Lily Dixon and many nephews, nieces and friends.
