David Redfern

October 28, 1944 - March 2, 2020

David Redfern Jefferson, Iowa Date of Death: March 2, 2020 David Lee Redfern, 75, of Jefferson, Iowa, passed away on March 2nd, 2020 in Jefferson, Iowa. David was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa, to Lyle John and Margaret Britenstein Redfern on October 28, 1944. He graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1963. He went on to study at the University of Northern Iowa. He married Linda Horner on March 27, 1970, in Sioux Falls, SD. Together they had two children, Kimberly (Duane) Magee of Norwalk, IA, and Dana Redfern of Jefferson, IA. David was employed as an insurance adjuster for Continental Western Insurance in Sioux Falls. He also served in the US Army Reserves for a number of years. He later moved his family to Jefferson, Iowa to own and operate several different businesses, including: the Greene Bonanza in Jefferson, IA; The Place in Panora, IA; and Wet Goods in Jefferson, IA, throughout his working life. After his retirement, David kept busy as a van driver for the local school system. He was a member of the Elks Benevolent Society, the VFW, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever during his lifetime. David greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as talking to anyone and everyone. You could always find him with a grin on his face and he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by family and the many friends he leaves behind. David is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers, Jim, John, Fred and Tom; two sisters-in-law, Diane Redfern and Kathy Redfern; one nephew, Fred Redfern; and two nieces, Teresa Jacobs and Lori Redfern. David is survived by his wife, Linda Redfern; his two children, Kimberly (Duane) Magee, of Norwalk, IA, and Dana Redfern, of Jefferson, IA; sister Mary Lou (Joe) Roth of Panora, IA; sisters-in-law Linda Redfern, of Osceola, IA, and Cindy Redfern, of Guthrie Center, IA; five grandchildren, Gabrielle, Nolan, and Lauren Magee and David and Rebekah Redfern; many dear friends and family. Visitation will be held from 2-5 PM on Sunday, March 8th, 2020 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home. Memorials in David’s name may be given to the family.
