Donald Nyght

Memorial services for Donald Nyght, 87, of Grand Junction, Iowa will be 10:30 am Saturday July 1, 2006 at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden, Iowa, with burial in the Junction Township Cemetery, Grand Junction, Iowa. Donald Eugene Nyght, son of Alvin and Ora May Babcock Nyght, was born on June 25, 1919, in Buffalo Center, Iowa. His early years were spent in the Farnhamville, Iowa area. His family moved to Grand Junction in 1933 where he attended school through the eleventh grade. He was employed at the Grand Junction John Deere dealership. Donald entered military service on February 10, 1941 and served in the European Theatre. He was honorably discharged on May 12, 1945. On October 23, 1941 Donald married Irma Patrick in Bethany, Missouri. The couple lived all their married life in Grand Junction, Iowa. They were the parents of two children, Kim and Melanie. Donald worked as a mechanic at the Jefferson John Deere Dealership of Charles “Tuffy” Dunlop for many years and was later employed at Binns Implement. Donald was a member of the United Methodist Church, V.F.W. and D.A.V. and was a Past Master of the Grand Junction Masonic Lodge. Donald Eugene Nyght died June 26, 2006 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. He was 87 years of age. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Irma, in 1998, and his sister, Mary Paul. Survivors include his daughter, Melanie Mowrer and her husband, Tom, of Ogden, Iowa; son, Kim Nyght of Daytona Beach, Florida; sister, Marilyn Perkins of Story City, Iowa; brother, Corliss Nyght of Grand Junction, Iowa and 7 grandchildren, Megan, Brad, Lisha, Logan, Amy, Cody and Heidi.
