Eddie was born May 7, 1948, to his mother Edna Marie (Morrison) Lusk and his father Ray Lusk, who are both deceased. Eddie is survived by his wife Joleen of Churdan, Iowa, his son Travis (Melissa) Lusk and grandson Arlo Lusk, Minneapolis MN; and his three sisters Pattie Marx, Sycamore, IL; Faye (Randy) Braun, Palatine, IL; and Debbie (Dick) Wodrich, Des Plaines, IL. Eddie’s younger years were lived in Tennessee around the Chattanooga area. As a boy, he loved the outdoors. You could always find him running, playing, and fishing. His passion for fishing carried through the years while living in the Minneapolis area, where he would always gravitate to one of the lakes or venture out to other fishing channels and lakes in the area. While attending Maine West High School, Eddie excelled in track and cross country. It was Eddie’s goal-oriented personality that complimented the overall success of the team, contributing to the cross-country team going to the state competition, including the Drake Relays. Main West selected Eddie for the honor of being permanently featured in the Athletes Hall of Fame. Eddie’s love of running continued, and he would often take part in running marathons. He inspired others with their chosen endeavors, including his son, and grandson to train, push hard and keep a winning attitude. The winning spirit continued while living in Minnesota, where he served in a management capacity for a chain of convenient food stores. His winning spirit continued to prevail when he became the owner of his own independent convenience food stores called Eddie’s Market. He also owned a handy-man business, and was a real estate inspector. He lived in Minneapolis for several years, after which he moved to Churdan, Iowa in 2004 with his wife, Joleen. During those years, Eddie worked in a supervisory position with Walmart. During one of his hospital stays, a nurse announced knowing him during his days at Walmart, saying he was always happy and offered up a smile every day. Not much longer after Walmart, Eddie worked at the Wild Rose Casino as a Customer Service representative, where he was always willing to help others. Most recently, he decided, as our father often said: “….take a break…”. Eddie did take that break, and soon after he began experiencing and managing a series of medical conditions that wore him down until he found peace. Eddie will be dearly missed, and will always remain in our hearts. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Churdan. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson is assisting the family.
