Funeral services for Kenneth Burkhardt, 93, of Bagley, Iowa will be 10:30 am Tuesday December 6, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church, Bagley, Iowa. Burial will be in Greenbrier Township Cemetery, Greene County, Iowa. Visitation will start at 9:00 am on Monday December 5, 2005 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home, Jefferson, Iowa; with family present Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm. Memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice. Kenneth Leslie Burkhardt was born January 7, 1912 in Guthrie County, Iowa to Jacob and Cora Edith Reynolds Burkhardt. Kenneth farmed all his life and enjoyed every minute of it. Raising crops and taking care of his livestock was like a hobby to him. He was married to Ruth Badger Burkhardt for over 56 years before she passed away in 1997. In years past, Kenneth was a 4-H Leader and served on the Greene County Fair Board. He was a past-layman and helped with MYF at the Methodist Church in Bagley. In his later years, Kenneth enjoyed woodworking in the winter months when it was cold outside. On November 24, 2005, Kenneth Burkhardt passed away at his farm home near Bagley, Iowa. He was 93 years of age. Preceding him in death was his wife, Ruth; one granddaughter, Karon Burkhardt, and one grandson, Derek Burkhardt; two brothers: Harold Burkhardt and Victor Burkhardt; two sisters: Florence Miller and Dorothy Vowell. Survivors include two sons and one daughter: Charles Burkhardt and wife, Bonnie, of Jefferson, IA; Jerry Burkhardt and wife, Nancy, of Bagley, IA and Kay Eich and husband, Bill, of Glenwood, IA; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, one sister: Leona Burkhardt and one brother, Lawrence Burkhardt, both of Guthrie Center.
