Lois Morlan Hastings, NE; formerly of Jefferson, IA Date of Death: January 10, 2022 Lois Morlan, age 94, formerly of Jefferson, Iowa, passed away January 10, 2022 in Hastings, NE. Services for Lois Morlan, 94, former resident of Jefferson, Iowa, will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church, Jefferson, Iowa. Rev. Kim Nofel will preside. Interment will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Following the burial, a luncheon and time of visiting with the family will be held at First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. Obituary of Lois Morlan Lois Jeanne Rees Morlan was born June 11, 1927 in Grand Junction, Iowa to Joseph Allison Rees and Lula Ann Thornton Rees. She was the seventh of nine children. Lois graduated high school in Grand Junction in 1945. She married Warren Morlan on May 12, 1950. Twin daughters, Claudia and Carla, were born June 2, 1951 and daughter Cynthia was born May 21, 1956. The family lived in Jefferson, Iowa for 16 years and then Warren’s employment with Iowa Electric moved them to Ames, Marshalltown, Carroll and Spirit Lake. Warren passed away in Spirit Lake on August 21, 1991. Lois moved back to Jefferson in July of 1993. She belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson, where she served several years as Deacon. She was a member of Eastern Star and Does, and was a long-time Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer. Since 2007, Lois has lived in Hastings, Nebraska. There, she died January 10, 2022 in the home of her daughter, Claudia, at the age of 94 years. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren; daughter, Carla Ridout; brothers: John Rees, David Rees, Danny Rees, Donald Rees, and Joseph Rees; and sisters: Phyllis Wiebenga, Lola Baumbach, and Rosemary Arnold. Lois is survived by two daughters: Claudia Butler of Hastings, NE; and Cynthia “Cyndi” Drury of Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
