Funeral services for Lucille L. Shorey, 91, of Jefferson, will be 10:00am Friday July 20, 2007 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. Interment will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 2:00pm Thursday. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6:30 – 7:30pm Thursday. Lucille Leone Reese Shorey was born September 2, 1915 in Bristol Township, Greene County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ray and Helen Royce Reese. Lucille attended school in Jefferson. When she was in the 6th grade, she met her future husband, Jack Dean Shorey. The couple was united in marriage on June 13, 1942 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. They became the parents of 3 daughters. Lucille was trained as a nurse at Washington Boulevard Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and did practical training at Cook County General Hospital in Chicago. She worked as a nurse at the Greene County Hospital in Jefferson for around 30 years. Lucille was a member of First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, playing bridge, family visits, having pet cats, and baking pies and bread. On July 16, 2007, Lucille died at the Greene County Medical Center at the age of 91 years. She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1970; her parents; 3 brothers: Walter, Warren and William; and 1 sister, Vivian. Survivors include three daughters and their husbands: Donna and Richard Woodruff, JR of Shorewood, MN; Marcia and Paul Kosharek of Celina, TX; and Barb and John Danielson of Jefferson, IA; 5 grandchildren: Thomas Woodruff, Jack and Jay Kosharek, Ashley and Rachael Danielson; and one sister, Evelyn Crouse of Jefferson, IA.
