Funeral services for Marshall Lynn McClurg, 78, of McKinney, Texas, will be 2:00 pm Wednesday April 5, 2006 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, Iowa. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery, Scranton, Iowa. The family will visit with friends between 5:30 - 8:30 pm Tuesday April 4, 2006, at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. Marshall Lynn McClurg, 78, of McKinney, TX passed away at the Medical Center of McKinney March 31, 2006 with family members at his side. Marshall, son of Ora H. and Nellie M. McClurg was born on the family farm near Scranton, IA August 14, 1927. He graduated from Scranton High School in 1945, attended Peru State Teachers College, Peru, NE, and Harding University in Searcy, AK. On June 10, 1948 Marshall married Norma Kennett and they had three sons, Kerry, Kent and Greg. In 1957 Marshall started his banking career with the Union Trust and Saving Bank in Ft. Dodge where he became Sr Vice President and retired in Dec. 1998. He and his wife spent the next few winters in South TX. and then moved there 1992. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Thaine, Buford, Mahlon and Richard. He is survived by his wife Norma, their children, Kerry and Therese of Mt Juliet, TN; Kent and Diane of Plano, TX; Greg and Nancy of Durango, CO; grandchildren Gregg of Studio City, CA, Sheila of Hermitage, TN. Erin of Dallas, TX; and Ryan of Aviano, Italy; many family members and a host of friends. Marshall was instrumental in forming a congregation of the Westside Church of Christ in Ft. Dodge, IA in 1956 and served as a teacher, lay preacher, and elder for many years. He was a charter member of the Radio Control Club, Charter member of the Ft. Dodge Rifle and Pistol Club, and served for many years on the Board of the United Way. His many hobbies included reading, woodworking, gardening, and genealogy. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations be sent to the Ruth Fund, an organization to further the education of young Christian women of South Africa The address is Zambia Mission, Ruth Fund, 3103 E.
