A visitation for Ricky Jewett, 66, of Paton, Iowa will begin after 11:00 am Friday, September 4, 2015 at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A private family burial will take place at a later date in the Junction Township Cemetery, Grand Junction, IA. Memorials are suggested to the family. Ricky Dean Jewett of Paton, Iowa, son of Dale LeRoy Jewett and Lucy Ann Butler Jewett, was born April 22, 1949 in Carroll, Iowa. He died September 2, 2015, at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 66 years. Rick grew up in Grand Junction, Iowa and graduated from East Greene High School in 1967. After high school he attended DMACC and enlisted in the Iowa Army National Guard where he was first in his class. Rick then returned to Grand Junction to farm. In 1974, Rick was united in marriage to Becky Linn. They made their home in Paton, Iowa in a home that Rick built. They were the parents of 3 children: Shane, Ian, and Amanda. Rick loved the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, kayaking, or spending time at the family cabin in Minnesota. He also enjoyed racing, and his pet dogs. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children: Shane (Cori) Jewett of Paton, IA, Ian (Kelly) Jewett of Paton, IA, and Amanda (John) Jewett of Rippey, IA; brothers: Larry (Angie) Jewett of Grand Junction, IA, and Randy Jewett of Grand Junction, IA; 8 grandchildren: Taryn, Faith, Briana, Alex, Dylan, Jacob, Kamrin, and James; nieces; nephews; many other relatives and friends.
