Robert J. Glenn Harlan, IA; formerly of Grand Junction, IA Date of Death: September 24, 2020 Funeral services for Robert Glenn, 89, of Harlan, IA and formerly of Grand Junction, IA will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, September 26, 2020 at First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction, IA. Burial with military rites will be at the Junction Twp. Cemetery, Grand Junction, IA. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 2:00pm Saturday, September 26th at First united Methodist Church in Grand Junction. Memorials are suggested to the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue or the Harlan Fire and Rescue. Robert Jerome Glenn was born June 3, 1931 in Grand Junction, IA. He was the son of Charles Glenn and Cora Hammerstedt Glenn. Bob graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1949. He entered the United States Army in 1952 and served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1954. On May 20, 1955, Bob was united in marriage to Catherine Cronin at the Methodist Church in Grand Junction. To this union, seven children were born. Bob was a Park Ranger for 39 years with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Bob and Catherine lived in many Iowa locations. He worked at Spring Lake State Park, Backbone State Park, Wapsipinicon State Park, Union Grove State Park, and his career culminated at Prairie Rose State Park where he worked from 1969 – 1993, at which time he retired. Upon retirement, Bob and Catherin moved back to Grand Junction, Iowa where they were faithful members of First United Methodist Church. Bob also belonged to the V.F.W. In 2015, Bob participated in the Iowa Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., an event he cherished. In 2019, Bob and Catherine moved to Harlan, Iowa to be closer to family. Bob died there at his home on September 24, 2020. He was 89 years of age. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother Kenneth; and a son, David. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Glenn of Harlan, IA; and children: Mark (Tricia McCarty) Glenn of Albuquerque, NM; Marcia (Mark) Winder of Skiatook, OK; Joel (Mary) Glenn of Huxley, IA Gary (Sara) Glenn of Iowa City, IA; Sharon (Randy) Kroger of Harlan, IA and Michael (Deb) Glenn of Omaha, NE; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
