Funeral services for Robert Scharfenkamp, 72, of Mount Ayr, Iowa will be 10:00 am Monday October 2, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson, Iowa. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Manson, Iowa. Visitation will start at 3:00 PM Sunday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home, Jefferson, with family present to greet friends from 3:00-8:00 PM Sunday evening; with a 7:00 pm Vigil for the Deceased. Robert (Bob) Leo Scharfenkamp,72, eldest son of WiIliam and Dorothy Simons Scharfenkamp, was born in Carroll, Iowa on July 3, 1934 on a farm. He passed away at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa on September 28, 2006 following a lengthy illness. He attended school at St. Peter and Paul's School in Carroll, and went on to graduate from Carroll High School. On January 25, 1958 he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Lang. To this union were born three children, William Joseph, Mary Frances, and Anne Marie. He worked as shoe salesman for Kelly Shoes in Carroll and later he owned shoe stores in Aubudon and Perry, IA. He retired from Selectivend in Waukee, IA in 2003. He had lived in Carroll, Aubudon, Bagley, and Panora, IA before moving to Mount Ayr to be closer to family. His favorite past time was being outside on the farm. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mount Ayr. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1976, and his father-in-law, Edward Lang, in 1989. Bob is survived by his son, Bill (Kimberly) Scharfenkamp of Mount Ayr, Iowa; and daughters, Mary (Philip) Dellorso of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Anne (Thomas) Geist, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Mary Sue (Phil) Blaisure of Omaha, Nebraska, Robert (Bob) Scharfenkamp of Ames, IA; Samuel and Benjamin Geist of Goodlettsville, TN; Sarah, Anthony, Eli and Mikaela Dellorso of Ewa Beach, HI; one step grandson, Christopher DeBoard of Creston, IA; two brothers, Roy (Carol) Scharfenkamp of Baudette, Minnesota; John (Karen) Scharfenkamp of Carroll, IA; three sisters, Janet (Richard) Davis of Jefferson, IA, Mary Ann (Bill) Gard Early, IA; and Jean (Joe) Berger of Webster City, IA; mother-in-law, Frances Lang, of Fort Dodge, IA; sisters-in-laws, Sr. Madonna Lang of Sioux City, IA; Margaret (Elmer) Ostbloom of Fairbanks, Alaska, Patricia (Hal) Barber of Des Moines, IA and Jean (Randy) Anderson of Fort Dodge, IA; brothers-in-law, Joe (Margaret) Lang of Fort Dodge, IA and Thomas (Kris) Lang of Dubuque, IA; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
